About Me

I am Margaret. Yes, it’s my real name. No, I haven’t gone by that name on the internet. There is a first time for everything. Most people here know me as Monkey. It’s a nickname I have had since I was about 10yo.

I have two boys by birth, Pman (b. 2002) and Godzilla (b. 2006). And a daughter by custody, GB (b. 1991). No, those aren’t their real names either. GB joined the Army in the summer of 2009 and graduated basic training in October 2009.

T is my partner, he is awesome. He has three children from a previous marriage: PA (b. 1994), Tonk (b. 1996) and Franky (b. 1997). We currently have them on the front half of the week weekends. They live with their mother on the back half during the week.

I started blogging in 2005 after a traumatic event with my daughter’s biomom. The blog changed and evolved into what you see here today.

This blog was given the name ‘they belong to us’ because of what my family was going through at the time. Our children, our responsibilities, our lives, our mistakes. They all belong to us. We are claiming ownership of them.

that circumcision should be against the law
that vaccinations are harmful

that co-sleeping and breastfeeding and wearing a baby are important to the child’s welfare

I will
love my partner with everything I have in me
support my children, no matter what they decide to become
be more honest with you than anyone you know
change your life as you know it
