…my name was put on the envelope. And the inside of the card. From Jen’s mother.
Did you know that when we got together, I was a bitch?
Did you know that because I was in the relationship, the kids were going to be horrible and perverted?
Did you know that Jen’s mother could never come around because I was so mean to her all the time? (I saw her twice.)
Did you know that we were going to ruin our kids because of our lifestyle?
Did you know that we lived in a sex play house?
Have you actually talked to me? Been around me? Been to my house?
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
But at our thanksgiving potluck, all of that changed. She discovered that the children were polite and helpful. She discovered that we did not have a sex play house. She discovered that I wasn’t such a bad person after all. She discovered that because I am in the picture, the kids get to experience a world they would have missed. She discovered that if she took a few minutes and actually shared space with me, that I loved her daughter and son-in-law and children. And that I would do anything for them.
And now, for the first time in 5 years – my name is on the cards addressed to the family. She has been in my house. And I am invited to hers.
Baby steps got us here.
peace…

Great

Have a wonderful Christmas!!
Marie
Yay! This is really great:)
I am so very happy for you all
How amazing! I am so happy that you have been accepted. You are a loving, caring, wonderful, strong woman and anyone that can’t see that clearly has their head up their ass. It’s a shame it took her so long to come around, but better late than never!
Your patience is amazing. I would probably have given up years ago on the family thing. Gah. Good job, woman!
Way to go. I am so glad to hear when wondeful things such as these happen. It takes awhile, but it is the small things such as this that make the most difference in our lives. E was thrilled when my mom finally added her name to the mothers day cars, in fact I am pretty sure she tucked it away and kept it
That’s great news! She’s definitely making big strides in opening herself up to who you REALLY are and not what her notions of you are. Congrats and yay for you all!
Hey that’s a great step! cool
That is very cool
I’m happy for you that she’s making progress. We all know how cool you are – nice the rest of your family is starting to catch up!
